The UK’s Climate Change and Energy Department (DECC) has recently set new rules. The government allows foreign renewable energy developers to bid for CFDs to produce energy for use in the United Kingdom. In order to actively seek exports, the country’s congress also passed legislation to help and reached an agreement with the Italian pipeline network operator to build a dedicated submarine cable to the substation near Rome and transfer it to the United Kingdom. DECC said that in order to reduce the cost of British consumers, any plan needs to compare the costs and benefits with the British national plan.
