PW166B/PW164 series image processing controller. It is a highly integrated "system built-in chip" that transmits analog, digital, and video input signals from various formats to digital projection systems or multimedia display systems.
The PW166B/PW164's built-in SDRAM frame buffer and memory controller work together to achieve frame rate conversion. Computer images that convert most of the refresh rate from VGA to UXGA can be resized to accommodate fixed-frequency terminal displays.
The chip features an advanced second-generation image scaling feature that provides fully programmable horizontal and vertical image scaling. In addition, it supports non-linear scaling to precisely control the 16:9 picture source and its display. Its high-quality zoom function, combined with an automatic image optimization circuit, provides a clear, full-screen display that can be centered without manual adjustment. At the same time, the PW166B/PW164 has advanced second-generation synchronous decoding technology, which fully supports various synchronization methods. These include interlaced, progressive, green sync, and TMDS data enable.
PW166B image processing supports NTSC or PAL video data, including 4:3 picture and 16:9 picture data sources such as DVD or HDTV. It uses an integrated PLL circuit to synchronize display interface timing with input timing. This requires only one external crystal to provide all of the clock signals required by the system.
The PW166B provides Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) output, which makes the design of the backlight or audio control circuit very simple and low cost. Thanks to the built-in microprocessor with reference source code, developers can develop versatile products in a short time. Programmable features: user interface, user boot screen, fully automatic image function and special screen effects. At the same time, the PW166B is available in a 256-pin PBGA package.
