According to foreign media reports, on the 25th, US President Trump signed a presidential memorandum, instructing the Ministry of Commerce to work with NTIA to develop a long-term spectrum strategy to help launch 5G network technology in the United States. In addition, Trump also created a White House Spectrum Strategy Working Group, which will collect reports from federal agencies on government spectrum needs and how to share the spectrum with private sector users.
The U.S. must first use 5GThe memo entitled "U.S. Future Sustainable Spectrum Strategy" also pointed out more and more areas of spectrum use, including autonomous vehicles, the Internet of Things (IoT), commercial space operations and "precision agriculture."
"The United States must first use fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology," Trump wrote in the memo. "The U.S. government's flexible and predictable spectrum access will help ensure that federal users can meet current and future mission requirements for a wide range of communication and non-communication systems."
US Deputy Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios said, “The strategy aims to achieve three goals: to ensure that the United States is in a leading position in 5G, to promote employment growth and economic growth, and to protect national security.â€
Kratsios added: “President Trump’s memo ordered federal agencies to review their existing spectrum usage, predict future demand, and formulate a research and development plan to make better use of the spectrum in the future.â€
White House adviser Michael Krasios said: "We will prioritize efforts to accelerate the development of 5G in the private sector so that the American people can reap the rewards of this incredible technology."
