Recently, CommScope said that in the future of broadband development, network convergence will adopt fiber optics on a large scale. Previously, CommScope co-sponsored Telecoms.com Intelligence's Broadband Outlook 2016 survey, which showed that fiber will play a key role in 5G development and network speed for all FTTH deployments.
"In the future, fiber will go deeper into the network to cope with the growing bandwidth demand," said Dieter Verdegem, vice president of CommScope's FTTx Access Solutions. "When 90% of respondents believe that multi-system operators will be 5G When merging fiber networks to cover FTTH and fiber backhaul, the meaning is not negligible."
The 600 respondents who participated in the survey worldwide included service providers and suppliers, as well as consultants, analysts, and corporate network customers. Other important findings in the Broadband Outlook 2016 report include:
91% of respondents agree that the availability of dense fiber networks is very important in the development of 5G.
· 79% of respondents agree that fiber optic technology can bring or bring brand and image benefits to their services and products.
· 45% of respondents expect that by 2020, most network users will migrate to FTTH, and by 2025 users will achieve 71% migration.
According to the report, 2020 is "predicted as a year in which everything in the world will get better." Although some operators hope to advance this date. The report also pointed out that "the fixed-line and wireless network worlds seem to be in a collision, but operators are trying to sort out this chaotic situation."
Telecoms.com Intelligence announced the results of the survey at the Broadband World Forum telecom conference held in London recently.
"We are pleased with the industry's positive feedback and support for broadband outlook research, which represents a very important group in the industry," said Tom Skinner, director of information at Telecoms.com. "The results of the survey indicate that next-generation access technologies will rely heavily on the vast use of fiber-optic infrastructure, especially as we get closer to 5G and expect the rich content that 5G will provide."
