A generator driven by a passenger wheel axle.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Chinese railway passenger cars were powered by LK5 type DC axle generators and batteries in parallel. When the bus is running, the pulley mounted on the axle rotates with the axle, and the generator driven by the flat belt drives the lower part of the undercarriage to generate electricity. The power of the motor is 3KW, the rated voltage is 24V, and the electric load on the vehicle is only the electric lamp and the moving head fan. Some buses also have electric water pumps. When the generator stops rotating or rotates at a low speed, it is powered by the parallel battery pack.
In the 1970s, China successfully developed a contactless induction sub-generator with a power of 3KW~7KW and a voltage of 48v. The three-phase AC generated by the motor is rectified to DC by a three-phase bridge rectifier for use on the vehicle load and charging the battery pack. The motor is hung on the lower part of the inner beam of the bogie, and the V-belt is driven by the shaft end V-belt to generate electricity.
Compared with the LK5 type DC generator, the inductive generator has high power, light weight, simple structure and convenient maintenance.
In the 1980s, China imported the Type 24 passenger car from the former Democratic Germany. The lower part of the undercarriage was equipped with a 35KW shaft-driven induction sub-generator, which was driven by a universal joint shaft. The power supply voltage is 110V, and 87 alkaline batteries are used for parallel power supply.
The inductive generator generates trapezoidal alternating current and contains higher harmonics, so it interferes with the radio within a certain range.
