According to Reuters in Lausanne, Switzerland, State Institute of the Arts (ECAL) graduate students Alexandre Picciotto, while majoring in product design course, cooperation with FSO France (Li-Fi) company OLEDcomm, a Li-Fi lamp design for the library, The file can be transmitted through visible light waves to a device with encryption software.
This set of lamps is also equipped with an infrared emitter, which can also transmit files through invisible light, even if the lights are off, Li-Fi can be used. The Li-Fi table lamp is made of aluminum with an evenly dispersed light source from the Plexiglass Satinice diffuser. Each set of lamps has 4 transmission hotspots.
Picciotto pointed out that the shape design of the diffuser is to hope that the light and Li-Fi network cover the entire desktop. Due to the limited bandwidth of existing Wi-Fi radios, speed and security are not as good as Li-Fi. Picciotto believes that Li-Fi is hundreds of times faster than Wi-Fi, and that light waves are larger than radio waves, so Li-Fi has the opportunity to solve the existing problems of Wi-Fi.
However, there are still difficulties in Li-Fi technology, including the inability to cross walls and outdoor use, which may be affected by sunlight, so it is not yet widely available. In the future, with the concept of smart city becoming more and more popular, it is also possible to apply Li-Fi to daily life through street lamps or roof lights of public transportation.
