Research on Library Self-service Based on Wireless Communication Technology

Foreword

Since the digital library entered people's vision in the middle of the last century, the function of the library has rapidly changed from information collection to information service, and the form of library service has gradually shifted from the original passive reader service to the self-service reader. The so-called library self-service means that without the participation of library staff, readers can flexibly and actively complete bibliographic inquiry, collection of books, borrowing of documents, copying of documents, and various databases on the Internet according to their personal characteristics, needs, hobbies, research priorities, and time schedules. Use of resources, downloading and other activities to achieve self-service reader service. At the end of the last century, with the integration of wireless communication technology into digital libraries, the form of library self-service has undergone substantial changes, realizing the perfect combination of humanity, digitization, intelligence and traditional libraries.

1 Wireless communication technology

Wireless communication is a communication method that uses the characteristics of electromagnetic wave signals to propagate in free space to exchange information. The information transmitted includes text, voice, images, etc. The transmission principle is: modulating low-frequency signals such as text, voice, and images to radio high-frequency signals, and transmitting the signals into space (ie, wireless channels) by an antenna. The signals propagate in space in the form of electromagnetic waves.
At the receiving end, the antenna receives the electromagnetic wave signal in the air, and the receiving device demodulates the modulated signal to restore the original information. Because the channel of wireless communication is a space, unlike cable communication, cables, optical fibers, etc. are required as channels to connect signal receiving and transmitting equipment, so the wireless communication method allows the terminal to move. This feature provides a strong technical foundation for the self-service of the library. .

2 Library self-service model based on wireless communication technology

The self-service of library realized by wireless communication technology includes two forms: inside and outside the library. The combination of radio frequency identification technology, that is, RFID technology and book management system, makes book management enter the field of intelligence for the first time, thus opening a precedent for self-service in the library; wireless mobile terminals and book management using wireless access technology The combination of systems makes the library self-service extend from inside the library to outside the library, making the library self-service more convenient and convenient.

2.1 Self-service in the library

2.1.1 RFID technology and its application in libraries

RYID technology is a technology that uses radio waves to automatically identify objects. Its basic hardware components include electronic tags, antennas and readers. The working principle of the RFID system is: when the electronic tag enters the RF area activated by the antenna, the radio frequency signal of the antenna will activate the tag, the reader sends out a modulated signal, the tag demodulates the modulated signal and sends the demodulated signal back to read Writer, the reader then sends the read data to the PC. The PC judges the legitimacy of the data based on logical operations, makes corresponding processing and control for different settings, and issues command signals to control the action of the actuator.

RFID technology is used in library management to create a convenient self-service environment for readers to read. Since the late 1990s, multiple libraries in more than 10 countries such as the United States, Australia, India, the Netherlands, Malaysia, and Singapore have adopted this technology. In the United States, where information technology is highly developed, about 2% of libraries have been equipped with RFID systems; in 2006, China ’s first RFID smart library, the Jimei University Chengyi College Library, was built and put into use. These libraries apply RFID technology to the entire process of book management, so that self-service has been comprehensively improved in the library.

2.1.2 Content of self-service in the library

Self-service in the library based on RFID technology includes:

(1) Intelligent search. Because the reader can read the tag information in the book within a certain range, the user can use the RFID handheld reader to scan and search the books on the bookshelf, and can quickly lock the orientation from the vast number of books;

(2) Customer self-inspection. Customers can detect entries in books without the help of managers. The self-inspection process can be completed by a touch screen and a receipt printer. At the same time of the self-inspection, the reader's basic information and borrowed book information are also recorded;

(3) Safety inspection. It is installed at the book borrowing exit and can automatically read the relevant information stored in the tag to determine whether the book is allowed to be taken out. When books that have not gone through the lending procedures or prohibited lending are going out, the security device will call the police to remind the management staff to stop in time;

(4) Automatic book return. When returning a book, a book return box equipped with an RFID reader / writer is used. At the same time when the book is returned, its loan identity is reset to allow other users to lend it.

There is still a lot of room for development in library self-service based on RFID technology. At present, many large companies, such as foreign VTLS, IBM, etc., domestic Tsinghua Tongfang, Shenzhen Fenghua Technology, etc. have launched their own high-performance RFID book management system. The “24-hour self-help library for city blocks” developed and developed by Shenzhen Library is a fully self-service system that makes full use of RFID technology and Internet technology to realize the library is open 24 hours and 24 hours a day throughout the city. It walked out of the self-service model of the library realized by RFID technology, and created a brand-new library service model for us.

2.2 Self-service outside the library

2.2.1 Mobile phone library and its application

The original intention of the mobile phone library is the wireless library proposed by Zhu Haifeng, which is to combine the wireless communication network and the digital library system, use the mobile phone media platform with high penetration to extend and expand the traditional library services, and provide information services anytime, anywhere , So that the library self-service really extends from inside the library to outside the library. So far, some libraries in Japan, Finland, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Korea, Singapore and other countries are experimenting with providing mobile phone information services. The implementation methods are mainly short message service and wireless Internet service.

PZT Piezoelectric Elements

Piezoelectric ceramic are a ferroelectric compound. This means, that the electro-mechanical conversion process for producing a motion is related a kind of self-enhancement process based on an internal reorganization of the material's structure. This self-enhancement process results in the higher piezoelectrical efficiency of PZT when compared to natural materials like quartz.

Piezoelectric ceramic are generally manufactured from PZT (Pb - lead, Zr - zirconium, Ti - titanium). The PZT- formulation can be varied with a variety of dopants allowing for a broad spectrum of material properties optimized for different application profiles.

Yuhai Company is able to manufacture piezoelectric ceramic elements in a wide range of shapes and sizes. piezoelectric discs, piezo rings, piezo plates, and piezo tubes (cylinders) is the main shapes Yuhai Company most frequently manufactures, we also have a great deal of experience manufacturing hemispheres, trapezoids and other customized shapes.

If the listed shapes and sizes was not the elements you are looking for, please contact us for more information. We can work with you to create the correct shape and size for you.
