Diodes pushes new SBR rectifier

Diodes Incorporated (Diodes Incorporated) recently introduced the SBR15U50SP5 Super Barrier Rectifier (SBR) with a current rating of 15A to meet the needs of a new generation of smart phone and tablet chargers. This miniature SBR rectifier is tested with a low forward voltage and low reverse leakage current to withstand the design's higher current pulse and operating temperature for the Discontinuous mode flyback charger.

The SBR15U50SP5 rectifier provides a forward voltage of only 0.35V and 10A current at +90oC ambient temperature, ensuring minimal conduction losses and thus improving charger efficiency. This device provides low reverse leakage current at higher temperatures, helps reduce blocking mode losses, and solves thermal runaway problems and improves reliability.

The excellent electrical performance of this SBR rectifier, coupled with its low thermal resistance in its compact PowerDI-5 package, optimizes the heat transfer effect and enables the charger to be smaller and slimmer. Diodes' patented PowerDI-5 package has a footprint of only 4.05mm x 6.60mm, while the off-board thickness is only 1.15mm.
