HP: Abandoning webOS is purely a rumor

Not long ago there were rumors that Hewlett-Packard's webOS division will soon be withdrawn, but the fact does not seem to follow the direction of this rumors. Todd Bradley, HP’s global vice president and head of PC business, said in an interview yesterday that HP’s claim to stop developing webOS is purely a rumor.

Bradley pointed out that HP will continue to invest in the development of webOS software, but for the time being there is no plan to release hardware running webOS. This statement is really eye-popping, that is, HP still believes that some vendors may pay licensing fees for webOS. The question is, will webOS have hope for success in the future? The competition in the operating system field is bound to become increasingly fierce.

However, at least, we now know that HP will temporarily not sell the webOS to others, and will continue to retain the webOS department in the short term.

Bradley said that after Hewlett-Packard has dealt with the problems of the PC business, it will take more effort to make good use of webOS. "HP has excellent software and amazing talent on webOS. We will weigh all the data information, The most accurate decision will be made in the future."
