Overview:
Brief
The PS401 is a fully integrated integrated circuit for battery management. The chip combines a proprietary microcontroller core with a monitoring algorithm and 3D battery model stored on a 12K byte on-chip OTPEPROM with: high precision 15-bit A/D and mixed-signal circuitry; on-chip EEPROM for storing user configuration parameters and "Learning" parameters; industry standard two-wire SMBus v1.1 interface for host communication using the standard SBData v1.1 command set.
Other features include an optional high-precision clock oscillator and temperature sensor, eight universal pins that support charge control or safety control, SOCLED display, or user-programmable digital I/O. Microchip's PS401 delivers the highest data accuracy of a single-chip smart battery in an IC, providing a space-saving solution for a wide range of portable systems while reducing the overall cost of system components.
