The VRMark Cyan Room, currently in development, is a new DirectX 12 benchmark for Windows PCs. Between the Orange Room and the Blue Room, the Cyan Room benchmark can show how to develop an impressive VR experience on the right PC system with less overhead. As with existing VRMark tests, you can run the "Cyan Room" benchmark on your monitor or VR head. Run benchmarks to test performance, or try to experience patterns with heads-on, and use your own eyes to determine the rendering quality of a system.
1. New VRMark benchmark for mobile VR
Mobile VR provides a cost-effective entry point for virtual reality, but the difference between device performance and a rapidly evolving ecosystem presents major challenges. To this end, VRMark added a new benchmark designed specifically for mobile VR platforms.
The new test covers a range of existing and emerging device standards, such as Google Daydream, Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR. Both test modes allow you to measure the peak performance of your device and the ability to run VR for long periods of time without overheating, reducing performance, or consuming excessive power.
2. Comprehensive VR delay test
In virtual reality, low latency is critical to user comfort. Poor performance can affect the quality of the VR experience and may even cause motion sickness and nausea.
Futuremark has partnered with OptoFidelity, a globally recognized robot-assisted testing and quality assurance company, to provide manufacturers with advanced VR latency testing platforms. The platform provides end-to-end testing of VR devices while measuring key VR performance metrics such as motion-to-photon delay, pixel persistence, and frame jitter. This solution is suitable for PCs and mobile devices and supports VR and AR systems.
