The brightness is lowered and the bonding is peeled off, and the silver plating frame is also lowered in brightness. In order to avoid these problems, ROHM's anti-vulcanization LEDs have effectively played a role.
New products are resistant to vulcanization with gold and silverIn order to challenge the troubles and problems caused by vulcanization for automotive LED brake lights, ROHM recently launched the industry's first anti-vulcanization silver-free high-brightness red LED "SML-18U2T". Yoshida Koji, head of the product planning group of the LED manufacturing department of the optical module, said that it is very suitable for anti-vulcanization measures of automotive brake lights and helps to improve long-term reliability.
"SML-18U2T" replaces the silver used in the conventional die bond solder paste and frame with other materials such as gold, and achieves no silver. This eliminates the LED brightness degradation caused by corrosion of the silver, which improves the reliability of the application.
Conventionally, there has been a problem that the solder paste portion used for bonding the element chip is blackened, resulting in a decrease in the luminous intensity of the LED. However, ROHM utilizes the advantages of the vertical integration production system from component to package. The chip bonding adopts gold-tin (AuSu), the lead is made of gold, and the frame adopts gold-palladium (AuPd), which realizes completely silver-free, so that the product has both products. High brightness and excellent resistance to vulcanization.
In the vulcanization test, the luminous flux of products using silver-plated frame and silver paste in the past is 70% after one cycle (24 hours) and 60% after 10 cycles. The longer the time, the lower the luminous flux; After 10 cycles (240 hours), it still maintains almost 100% high luminous flux.
