Oldham introduces a new infrared sensor

The OLCT100 is a 4-20 mA analog gas sensor for hazardous areas in industrial applications.

According to James Consulting, Oldham, which is part of 3M Group's personal security business, is excited to announce a new infrared sensor for detecting refrigerant gas and SF6 gas.

This new sensor is used in a wide range of markets, including the refrigeration industry (refrigeration and air conditioning), the food industry, high voltage / medium voltage switch protection, automotive industry and so on.

In many applications, HFO (hydrocarbon fluoroolefin) has replaced the HFC (hydrofluorocarbon) commonly used in the past, and the detection of HFO fluid has obvious advantages.

Although HFO can be reliably detected using other technologies, it requires a lot of effort. Because every time after contact with the gas, you must check whether the detector works properly (mainly for the catalytic sensor). In addition, experience has shown that it is impossible to completely prevent these machines from leaking, and the inside of the filler casing usually has a 50 ppm HFO and is close to the detector. In this case, the detector needs to be tested every day, and the maintenance of this strength is a great burden for the line operator.

Thanks to infrared technology, this headache has been solved! This principle of operation is based on the fact that when the gas is present, the infrared radiation is reduced. This detection does not produce any chemical reaction or modification to the HFO molecular structure. The sensor is also not damaged by the continued presence or excessive exposure of the gas.
